General Information

-This program is open to middle school students (6th, 7th, and 8th graders)

Expenses:

Tuition for the four-day institute is $250.

Room and board is $215. (optional) 
Apartment-style housing will be in UK's state-of-the-art fine arts dorm (opened in 2016)

Highlights:

Building on the success of our UK Summer Trumpet Institute, we are now offering a new program, the UK JUNIOR TRUMPET INSTITUTE, tailored for Middle School trumpet players; Classes will be geared toward younger players, with an emphasis on sound production, breathing, reading, ensemble playing, and other fundamental skills.

Details for the Junior Trumpet Institute will include:

-Warm-up classes

-Fundamentals Classes

-Sight-reading strategies

-Trumpet ensemble sessions

-Recreational activities and games

-Held on the University of Kentucky

Air Transportation:

If you are flying to Kentucky for the institute, it is recommended that you fly into the Lexington Blue Grass Airport (LEX). Free shuttle pickup to and from the Lexington airport will be available. If you need pickup from the airport, please email your flight information to Jenna Veverka at uktrumpetcamp@gmail.com

Housing:

For participants who choose the room and board option, housing will be in North Campus Holmes Hall, the state-of-the-art fine arts dorm, opened in Fall 2016.

Participants should bring their own linens.

Participants will check-in to the camp the morning of June 10.  Participants will check out the evening of June 13.

If a participant wants to arrive a day early, or stay a day late, this is possible. There will be a $40/day fee for additional days. You will need to contact us (uktrumpetcamp@gmail.com) and pay the fees by May 22 in order to secure your dorm room to arrive a day early or leave a day late.

Meals:

For students who choose the room and board option, meal options are available both on and off campus, provided by UK Dining Services through PLUS cards. There are many options just across the street from Holmes Hall.

Lockers:

Holmes Hall has numerous storage lockers that students are welcome to use during the camp to store their personal belongings. Students who wish to use a locker should bring their own combination or key lock.

Study rooms on each floor

Laundry facilities ($1.25 to wash & $1.25 to dry)

Payment should be received (or postmarked) by May 22, 2019.
